Peppermint Tea by Adagio Tea
Peppermint tea, an herbal tea long known for it’s stomach-soothing properties and refreshing flavor, is my favorite anytime tea if I’m looking for something comforting, refreshing, and helpful to digestion. Plus, if you drink peppermint tea on a date, it’s a much more subtle way than chewing gum to freshen your breath before leaning in for a goodnight kiss.
Tonight, after a heavy dinner consisting of the biggest pork chop I’ve ever seen, I needed a light and soothing after dinner tea. So, I made a cup of peppermint tea from Adagio Teas. A convenient ziploc pouch contains .4 oz of fairly large sized loose tea leaves. Adagio recommends 2 teaspoons per cup and to steep for 5-10 minutes. After five minutes, the tea appeared gorgeously pale gold in color. The flavor was subtle and light. Perfect for those who desire the soothing benefits of peppermint tea without it being overwhelmingly minty. After ten minutes, the color had deepened into a bronze hue and the peppermint scent and flavor were significantly stronger. I also detected a slight grassy flavor which reminds me that yes, peppermint does come from a plant! If you have never had peppermint tea before, it has an herbal undertone that you will not find in peppermint flavored chewing gum and candy.
Overall, I am really pleased with Adagio’s peppermint tea. I have always turned to peppermint tea to settle my stomach and it is also my favorite flavor of herbal tea. I’ve tried several brands, both low and high end, and for the price point, Adagio did not disappoint. I find that this loose tea has much more of a fresh herbal flavor than prepared tea bags and it’s easier to control the strength of the tea, which is handy for guests who might not like their beverage quite so minty. Unless your guest is also your date… in that case, load up the peppermint, it can only help!
